Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD which is what it is most commonly known as affects all ages, populations, and cultural backgrounds.  ADHD is often misunderstood and can lead to both frustration to the parents as well as the child.  ADHD can be difficult to control and can lead to low self-esteem and significant behavioral problems if left untreated.  Symptoms of ADHD can affect functioning in school, home, and/or work.  Therapy will concentrate on developing a behavior management plan with both parent and child using positive reinforcement techniques.  For adults, therapy will primarily focus on learning coping strategies to improve their functioning at work and at home.
